A very large, evergreen or dry deciduous tree with a spreading crown of fine pinnate leaves and beautiful, powderpuff-like, white flowers in large clusters. It is commonly distributed from Pakistan across much of India to southern China, the Philippines and Indonesia and found in a variety of habitats. Albizia chinensis makes a beautiful, fast-growing decorative for tropical areas in USDA Zones 10 and above and is widely cultivated as a shade and street tree, for erosion control, for its light but termite resistant wood and for forage crops. Seeds should be scarified or immersed in boiling water to break short rest period and then soaked at room temperature for a day.
