What it looks like: Most certainly a strange-looking species, the A. myriostigma is a hardy mead native to Mexico, which displays curved spines of the spherical peduncle (may ovoid with age). The juicy spherical stem protrudes ribs that form around the edge of the top of the cacti downwards.

Treatment: Because these cacti has fairly sharp spiky spines do protect the hands with gloves when handling.

Flowering: The light and subtle yellow petals of flowers (center of the flower is red in color) bloom during the summer and then fruit, after a few weeks. The red fruits contain black seeds that you can germinate to produce new plants.
