Ferocactus histrix 10 seeds

Ferocactus histrix is a beautiful globular cactus species found in a large area of Mexico. Here this cactus grows in sandy and rocky plains and dry forest areas.

Ferocactus histrix has a light green to blue-green color. This Ferocactus is not a fast grower. But may eventually grow to a height of 110cm and a width of 50-60cm. Here she does then take many decades. Ferocactus histrix makes many sharp long thin spines that grow sideways from its areoles. These spines have a red color on top of the cactus and a combination of yellow and red more downward. The red color of the spines on top of the cactus intensifies when you give it a nice sunny spot.

The Ferocactus histrix starts flowering in our place at the end of summer. The flowers appear on top of the head of the cactus and are a bright yellow color. To encourage flowering, it may help to give this cactus a really sunny spot in the summer.
