A giant wild species, first identified by Ignatz Urban, that is difficult to grow in northern climates, but which rewards successful livestock farming with its giant green leaves, underside and sheaths more or less lanuginose, and crowned by yellow-orange flowers and yellow-green fruits. A giant species; green foliage, very large, elongated, curved habit; triangular stems, colored green, spikes of flowers are bell-shaped, solid yellow-orange, staminodes are long and narrow, partially self-cleaning; fertile both ways, not known or true to type, self-pollinating, capsules round; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, colored white and pink; excitation is average.
