Carpinus fangiana is a fairly new introduced plant from China. Our C. fangiana has been at the nursery for three years and despite the fact that the trunk has increased a bit in thickness, little has been added to the height. It is probably not in the right place, or this species is less suitable for our climate. Other plants in the same row all do better.
The remarkable thing about Carpinus fangiana are the long and pointed yellowish buds, the exceptionally large leaves and the fruit catkins up to about 40 cm long.
