Description

This small ginger produces green shoots in spring up to about 60 cm (2 ft) long with a very attractive, terminal inflorescence of the red bracts and yellow flowers. Native to the Himalayas to 2400 m to the south of central China. It is one of the most hardy gingers. It is best suited for temperate zones, does not require much heat to grow, and the underground rhizomes can survive even harsh winters.
