This rare banana can only be found in the limestone hills near Bau, Sarawak. The male germ is a beautiful, royal purple with white stripes, the fruits are small, only about the size of a finger, and the fruiting stem is covered with dark brown, velvety hairs. The pseudostem is brown at the base and the petioles have a rose pink tint. An exceptionally rare species that could still be in cultivation.
