This spectacular banana from low-lying areas in Sarawak on the island of Borneo delivers clustering pseudostems up to about 4 m (13 ft) high. The overarching inflorescence contains about 6 hands of finger-long fruits and a drooping red or brown bud. Closely related to M. textilis, it does best with tropical conditions, but is virtually unknown in cultivation so far.
