Wow! A rare and little-known large banana species, new for cultivation, that has a huge pseudo-strain up to 4.5 m (14ft) tall and 45 cm (18in.) in diam., Initial outdoor trials in the United States, Britain, Germany and Switzerland have shown excellent resistance to cold and frost. Like all bananas, it is extremely fast growing, given rich soil and an abundance of water. The fruits have a sweet pulp, but are hard and contain a number of large seeds. An absolute novelty as an ornamental plant. We think this plant has more potential than any other cold tolerant Musa in cultivation at the moment.
