Agave ellemeetiana
A beautiful Agave of great height, 2500 m (8200 ft.), in the mountains of Oaxaca around Tlaxiaco. The broad, soft leaves have a silky, pale bluish surface, like Agave attenuata, which contrasts well with a very finely toothed, red leaf margin. They form a dense rosette, no more than 100 cm (40 in.) Over and sometimes a short trunk. In cultivation, it easily adapts to most warm temperate climates and can take long-lasting cool conditions, but only briefly freezes. It was introduced into cultivation in Europe in the 19th century, but still remains rarely seen today.
