Put 3-5 seeds in 3 times as much moist sterile sand (1 part water + 4 parts sand) or moistened paper towels or slightly moistened vermiculite (or perlite) or peat mole.
Moist means that no more drops will run out when you squeeze them (holding paper towel to a tip).
Put this in a sealed small container or plastic bag in the refrigerator (+ 2-5oC). With paper towels, place the seeds between 2 layers and put them in a suitable plastic bag. Check at least 2x a week for mold and germination. Germination will last 30-60 days, so begin cold stratification about mid-February.
If you do not want to apply cold stratification, the procedure is the same, but place the container or bag in a light place (no sun) at room temperature (21-24oC). Place in jars if a few germ leaves can be seen.
