A very beautiful, large banana that forms small clusters of robust, purple-red pseudostemsup to 11 m high with large, broad leaves that are wax-white underneath and have dark red misribs. The curved inflorescence contains scarlet bracts and very waxy, highly angled fruits. The seeds are among the largest of any Musa. Musa nagensium is native to montane rain forests from the eastern Himalayas to western Yunnan in China. It will be an excellent ornament for tropical and warm temperate climates.
