On the rare Washingtonia sp. filibusta is a hybrid of Washingtonia filifera and Washingtonia robusta. This type combines the cold tolerance of Washingtonia filifera and appearance like growth rate of Washingtonia robusta. This Washingtonia produces type white flowers and dark brown-black, spherical fruits that can easily germinate and are thus ideally suited for seed cultivation.
The Wassen Tonie easy to grow and one of the most common palms in Central and Western Europe. It can be grown in the Netherlands with suitable winter protection as a free-palm, but a winter as a container plant in a light, cool place also provides contact. It prefers full sun locations and a dry, Mediterranean or subtropical climate and should be watered regularly.
Growing seeds succeeds beginners under the right conditions. This fan palm is considered fast growing and reaches a height of 15 meters.
